Chicago Cubs Game 1 Starting Lineup
Lou Brock (CF), Ben Raudman (LF), Ron Santo (3B), Hank Aaron (RF), Andre Rodgers (1B), Dick Bertell (C), Jim McKnight (2B), Elder White (SS), Al Lary (SP)

[April 22, Game 1]
The Nevada Dusters pounded the Chicago Cubs pitching staff for a franchise-record 19 hits and 12 runs in the first game of the series. Billy Williams fired the opening salvo, a two-run homer in the 1st. Hector Lopez knocked one over the left field fence for three runs in the 2nd. The Dusters added four more runs in the 5th on six hits, including a two-run triple by first baseman Gordy Coleman (who collected five ribbies today). With a 10-0 lead and Joe Horlen on the mound, Ben Naylor was afforded the rare luxury of sitting back and enjoying the game from that point on. Horlen went eight innings, allowing one run on seven hits and earning his third win of the season. Williams, Coleman and Horlen himself went 3-for-5 on the day, while Hector Lopez and Clete Boyer were 2-for-4 and Johnny Blanchard finished 3-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored. Of the nineteen knocks, sixteen were singles, and the pundits were commenting on the productivity of the Nevada lineup from top to bottom.
Lineup: Coleman, Lopez, Williams, Tresh, Adair, Boyer, Hubbs, Blanchard, Horlen
Record: 13-9
Dusters 12, Cubs 2
[April 23, Game 2]
In his fourth start, Dave McNally continued to excel on the mound, holding the Cubs hitless through the first five frames, and pitching a complete game with only four hits charged against him. Hank Aaron spoiled McNally's shutout bid by clobbering a solo homer in the 9th. Of the thirteen Nevada hits garnered at the expense of Don Cardwell and company, three were long balls. Billy Williams hit a pair, one in the 1st and the other in the 4th (making three for the series against his former team), while Clete Boyer hit a three-run shot that bounced off the center field scoreboard to put the Dusters up 8-0 in the 7th. Williams finished 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs, hiking his average to .348 while Boyer, also 2-for-4 on the day, enjoyed a .412 average. Best on the club, though, was first baseman Gordy Coleman who, in 33 at-bats had accumulated a whopping .485 BA. With Coleman so hot at the plate, Naylor faced the dilemma of whether to platoon Gordy and Vic Power at first. McNally improved his record to 3-0 and the Dusters, having won three in a row, found themselves in second place in the NL, 1.5 games behind the Pirates.
Lineup: Coleman, Lopez, Williams, Tresh, Adair, Boyer, Schaive, Blanchard, McNally
Record: 14-9
Dusters 8, Cubs 1
[April 23, Game 3]
It looked at first as though the Dusters would handle the Cubs as easily as they'd done in the first two games, as Billy Williams drew a two-out walk in the 1st, Tom Tresh singled, Johnny Schaive hit a RBI double, and Clete Boyer followed with a two-run single. Starter Tony Cloninger (2-1) held the Cubs scoreless through four, but the wheels came off in the 5th as two singles, a double, a fielding error by Hector Lopez in right field, and a three-run dinger off the bat of Ron Santo propelled Chicago to a 5-3 lead. Santo returned in the 7th to add a solo blast. Every time the Dusters would put a man on he'd be erased in a twin killing, and so the Cubs avoided being swept. Cubs starter Dick Ellsworth got his second win of the season, Cloninger his second loss, and Nevada fell back to third place in the NL, with the prospect of going to Pittsburgh to face the first-place Pirates.
Lineup: Power, Lopez, Williams, Tresh, Schaive, Boyers, Hubbs, Blanchard, Cloninger
Record: 14-10
Cubs 6, Dusters 3
